Its a fact that many companies need to maintain older legacy systems for many reasons. Maybe the software will not run on newer systems, or maybe its embedded in equipment, but whatever the reason many service providers will simply refuse to support it.
GEN Are different.
Distributions like CentOS 6 and 7 are still in use in many installations, on embedded hardware like phone systems and used on servers. When RedHat abandoned CentOS forcing users to upgrade to RHEL, many companies simply couldn't make the move, or didn't want to. GEN Fully support CentOS 5, 6, and 7, and we are able to assist with migration to distros like Alma and Rocky Linux.
Other distros like Mandrake, Corel, Antergos, as well as early versions of Slackware, SuSE, and Solaris can be supported by GEN, and we can assist in a seamless migration to newer distros including transferring all settings and software.
We still have customers running Windows NT, XP, 7, and 8, and we fully support those customers. Even though these versions are not longer receiving updates, we can mitigate the risks using hardware and software such as firewalls and Application proxies, enabling these systems to keep on running. We support the repair, reinstallation, and recovery of these legacy windows systems, and we can help with migration of software, settings and data to newer versions.
We are experienced in transitioning software from older versions of Windows to the newer versions, handling software and hardware issues and working no solving the issues.
Still running Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, NetBSD, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and others? We have in-house experience for all of these, and we fully support our customers on these. Where possible we can assist in the migration of applications and data between Unix and more modern Linux based servers.
Sun Solaris, initially released in 1992 is as old as this company, and was heavily used in Sun Sparc hardware systems. In 2010 Oracle purchased Solaris from Sun and has maintained it since. Solaris can run on Intel hardware since version 10, and is currently only supported on Intel and AMD hardware. We can support both your Sparc and Intel hardware, and Solaris environments.
AIX is an unix-like operating system from IBM, originally released in 1986 this became a popular choice for IBM's 615x series and RS/6000 series of mini-computers based on PowerPC. AIX is still supported by IBM with version 7.3 being the latest at time of writing. For newer hardware there are possible upgrade paths to Linux but not for everyone. We fully support the IBM hardware and AIX environments.
HP-UX was released back in 1984 by Hewlett Packard for their early mini computers. HP-UX runs on a wide range of HP's PA-RISC hardware, with some versions ported to Intel. HP-UX runs on HP Integrity Servers, HP BL Series, HP CX Series, HP RX Series and of course HP9000 Series. We fully support all HP hardware and HP-UX environments.
A very early unix operating system from the late 70's is BSD, and evolved into FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD over the decades. FreeBSD is a general purpose Unux operating system and can run on several processors, whereas OpenBSD focuses on security, and NetBSD is focused on hardware and network compatability, but they are all essentially the same. We fully support all BSD UNIX variants and the hardware upon which they run.
We support HPE hardware back as far as Generation 2, and keep spares for many HP servers from G2/3/4/5/6/8 and 9 including mainboard, processors, memory, storage and power.
We still have HP9000 series spares in stock as well as the technical support for this hardware line.
We support Synology Diskstations and Rackstations as far back as 2014, and keep synology spares for most common hardware including mainboards, memory and power. We can operate a swap out or RTB repair for the majority of synology hardware to get you up and running quickly.
We actively support older hardware from Supermicro, IBM, Intel, EMS and many more, if you have old hardware and are looking for comprehensive support then we can do it.
For some systems, especially those where spares are not readily available, such as some legacy Synology Diskstations or Rackstations, we have the staff and capabilities for component level repair. This may take a little longer to repair, but we often need to order in parts but we'll work with you to get it fixed and back in service.
Maintenance, is primarily for Infrastructure, that is, servers, networking, connectivity and storage.
There is no one fixed price for maintenance, every customer is different. However, maintenance is no where
near
as expensive as an unplanned failure. We offer either fixed price maintenance, where we'll cover any
failures
and any parts inclusive, or fixed price labour where you pay for parts, or pay-as-you-go, where we will
cover your
system at a fixed price per incident, or variable price per incident as you prefer.
