GEN has been using HP Servers in our data-centres since 1993 and we continue to use HPE because
of
their
rocket solid performance, reliability and embedded toolsets.
We are proud to be both a
HP and HPE partner, and to continue supporting the brand that has grown with us over the last 3
decades.
Hewlett Packard have never been the cheapest option when it comes to infrastructure, but their
longevity and reliability
ensure a solid return on investment. HP's Generation 10 infrastructure further extends their
commitment to climate change by consistently being the lowest
power platform on the market. GEN has invested heavily in HPE for our data-centers to maximise
our commitment to a carbon neutral future, which is very important to us.
HPE Partner with companies like GEN who have both the technical expertise, and hardware stock to
provide the best in class maintenance and support for HPE Hardware.
HPE hardware, barring a few of the smaller 'micro' servers, is purpose-built for the demands of enterprise environments. Its robust construction stands out, featuring high-quality, reliable components that ensure consistent performance under pressure. What sets HPE apart are the thoughtful, easy-to-maintain features woven into its design, elements you simply won't find replicated across the market. In our data centres, HPE servers prove their worth time and again. They stack efficiently to make the most of available space, yet remain straightforward to extract and service when needed. This blend of durability and practicality makes them a cornerstone of enterprise-grade operations.
Currently, our GEN clusters, known as AVALON, NEBULA, and EQUINOX, all rely on Generation 10 HPE Netserver 5 series, paired with a wide-area SAN storage network. This setup powers very-large-scale virtualisation with a level of dependability we wouldn't entrust to any other vendor. HPE's engineering shines in these complex deployments, offering the stability and scalability that modern enterprises demand. It's not just about meeting standards; it's about exceeding them, providing a foundation that supports our clients' most ambitious projects with unwavering confidence.
When it comes to investing in IT infrastructure, the initial cost of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) solutions might raise eyebrows. Yes, it's true that HPE equipment isn't the cheapest option on the market, but a closer look at its longevity, reliability, and ongoing support reveals why it's a remarkably cost-effective choice in the long run.
We have customers on maintenance contracts who are still happily relying on Generation 7 servers, originally deployed in the early 2010s. These systems, now well over two decades old, continue to perform admirably and, crucially, remain fully supported by HPE.
That's not just a testament to the durability of the hardware; it's a reflection of HPE's unparalleled commitment to standing by its products and its customers year after year. Few, if any, vendors can match this track record. While other manufacturers might push for frequent upgrades or quietly phase out support for older kit, HPE takes a different approach, one that prioritises sustainability and value over obsolescence.
Take, for example, one of our customers still running an HP9000 system from 2002. Not only is this server still operational, but we've also got it covered under a maintenance agreement, ensuring it remains a productive part of their operations more than 20 years later. This kind of staying power isn't an accident; it's the result of HPE's engineering excellence and a support ecosystem designed to maximise your investment.
The ROI story here is clear: while the upfront price tag may be higher, the extended lifespan and dependable performance of HPE solutions drastically reduce the total cost of ownership. Fewer replacements, less downtime, and ongoing support mean that businesses can stretch their budgets further without sacrificing reliability. In an era where technology often feels disposable, HPE offers something rare—a partnership built on durability and trust that pays dividends for decades.
As an authorised HPE Partner, we benefit from direct access to HPE's priority hardware supply chain. This means we can source critical parts that we don't carry swiftly, often on the very same day they're needed, ensuring minimal disruption for our clients. Beyond that, we maintain an extensive in-house stockpile of components, covering everything from complete chassis and mainboards to processors, RAM, controllers, and networking equipment. Our proactive approach to inventory management reflects our commitment to keeping your systems operational, no matter the challenge. Whether it's a sudden failure or an urgent upgrade, we've got the resources ready to respond without delay.
For some of our customers, we go a step further by providing tailored business continuity solutions. We keep entire cold spare configurations on hand, fully prepped and matched to their existing setups. These can be installed on the same day, or brought online remotely if required, offering a seamless fallback that keeps operations running smoothly during unexpected outages or disasters. This level of preparedness is about more than just technical support; it's about giving our clients peace of mind, knowing their reliance on HPE technology is backed by a partner who prioritises their uptime and success. Our deep integration with HPE's ecosystem and our extensive experience allows us to deliver this bespoke, rapid-response service with confidence.
